4-(Ethoxycarbonyl)-N,N,N-Trimethylanilinium Trifluoromethanesulfonate is a chemoembolization agent that has been shown to be effective in vivo and in vitro for the treatment of cancer. This drug is classified as a chemotherapy drug, and is also used for the treatment of renal cell carcinoma. 4-(Ethoxycarbonyl)-N,N,N-Trimethylanilinium Trifluoromethanesulfonate functions by disrupting the membranes of living cells so that they can no longer function. It binds to lipids in the cell membrane and creates holes that allow substances inside the cell to leak out.
