4-(2-(4-((1-((4-Fluorophenyl)methyl)-1H-benzimidazol-2-yl)amino)-1-piperidinyl)ethyl)-phenol is a drug used to treat allergic symptoms and structural heart disease. It is an analog of erythromycin that has been shown to inhibit multidrug efflux pumps, which are proteins that pump drugs out of the bacterial cell. 4-(2-(4-((1-((4-Fluorophenyl)methyl)-1H-benzimidazol-2-yl)amino)-1-piperidinyl)ethyl)-phenol binds to the receptor site on the outside of cells, preventing its activation by histamine or other chemical substances. This binding leads to an increase in histamine levels and a decrease in inflammation.
