This derivatization procedure can be used for the determination of 3FMBA in a variety of samples. 3FMBA can be detected by capillary gas chromatography with mass spectrometry detection. It has a high nucleophilicity, which allows it to react with the electron rich iodide ion, forming an electrophilic intermediate.
