Beschreibung

3-(2-Furyl)-1H-1,2,4-triazole-5-thiol is a chemical compound that inhibits the growth of bacteria by interfering with bacterial DNA replication. It has been shown to have antibacterial activity against gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria and Staphylococcus aureus. 3-(2-Furyl)-1H-1,2,4-triazole-5-thiol binds to the bacterial DNA gyrase enzyme and prevents the proper operation of this enzyme. This leads to inhibition of DNA synthesis and ultimately cell death. 3-(2-Furyl)-1H-1,2,4-triazole-5-thiol also has antiinflammatory properties.
