• Beschreibung: S-(+)-Flecainide is an antiarrhythmic agent that suppresses the abnormal firing of neurons in the heart. It binds to potassium channels and increases their time of opening, which reduces the rate at which a cell depolarizes. Flecainide is metabolized by cytochrome P450 2D6 (CYP2D6) and has a large volume of distribution. The serum concentration of S-(+)-flecainide increases with age, as does the risk for ventricular arrhythmias and atrial fibrillation. S-(+)-Flecainide is extensively bound to serum proteins, especially albumin, and its renal clearance decreases with declining renal function.
