3-Fluorophthalic acid is an organic acid that is a salt of protocatechuic acid. 3-Fluorophthalic acid has been shown to have anticancer activity, which may be due to its ability to inhibit the uptake of ferroelectric polymers and other inorganic acids by cancer cells. However, 3-fluorophthalic acid was found to be cytotoxic at high concentrations. This compound also has ferroelectric properties and can form architectures that are different from those formed by other organic acids. In addition, 3-fluorophthalic acid is an inorganic acid because it does not contain any carbon atoms.
