Fmoc-D-Asp(OtBu)-OH is a synthetic amino acid that can be used in the synthesis of peptides and proteins. It has a conformational, stereoselective, and cyclic structure with a redox cycling property. Fmoc-D-Asp(OtBu)-OH is synthesized by reacting lysine with D-aspartic acid methyl ester hydrochloride and N,N'-dibenzylethylenediamine. It is used as an intermediate for the synthesis of human serum albumin and can also be used in the treatment of cancer. This compound binds to metal ions such as copper, which catalyzes its macrocyclization to form a cyclic structure. Fmoc-D-Asp(OtBu)-OH has been shown to have a high affinity for albumin in human serum, which makes it suitable for use as an anticancer drug.
