Beschreibung

N-Formylglycine ethyl ester (NFGEE) is a formylating agent that inhibits the replication of RNA viruses. It is used in assays to identify the presence of viruses and as a substrate binding agent for profiling. NFGEE has been shown to inhibit hepatitis virus replication in vitro, while also inhibiting platelet aggregation and inflammation. NFGEE can also be used as an antiplatelet agent or to treat autoimmune diseases such as inflammatory bowel disease. NFGEE binds to toll-like receptor 4, which is involved in the inflammatory response of macrophages. The chemical structure of NFGEE contains a nitro group and an ethyl formate group, making it susceptible to dehydration reactions with water or alcohols.
