• Beschreibung: 2-Formyl-6-methoxypyridine is a synthetic serine protease inhibitor. It binds to the active site of serine proteases and inhibits their activity by blocking the catalytic triad (Ser, His, Asp). 2-Formyl-6-methoxypyridine has been shown to inhibit the release of inflammatory mediators in mast cells. This drug also inhibits cardiovascular diseases through its ability to reduce cholesterol levels and atherosclerotic plaque formation. The supramolecular complex between 2-formyl-6-methoxypyridine and ruthenium can be used as a fluorescent probe for electrochemical studies. 2-Formyl-6-methoxypyridine has a red shift in its emission spectrum when bound to ruthenium.
