Fmoc-4-aminomethylcyclohexane carboxylic acid is a radiotracer that has shown potential for use as an imaging agent in prostate cancer. The compound is a geometric isomer of the amino acid methionine and can be used to detect prostate cancer cells. This molecule binds to the antigen expressed by prostate cancer cells, which allows for its detection with positron emission tomography (PET). Fmoc-4-aminomethylcyclohexane carboxylic acid has also been shown to be effective against human leukemia cells, but not tumor xenografts. It has also been shown to have peptidomimetic properties and may act as a ligand for uptake into cancer cells.
