Beschreibung

5-Fluoroisophthalic acid is a member of the lanthanide series of compounds that have optical absorption properties. It has been shown to bind to metal ions and act as a ligand. 5-Fluoroisophthalic acid has been shown to inhibit the growth of human gliomas cells in culture, and may be a potential treatment for this type of cancer. It causes apoptosis in these cancer cells by upregulating genes that are involved in the process of programmed cell death. The mechanism by which 5-Fluoroisophthalic acid induces apoptosis is not yet fully understood, but it may be related to its ability to interact with tumor necrosis factor-α (TNF-α) and other molecules involved in cell growth inhibition.
