Produktinformation
Fabiatrin is a genus of plants that includes gardenia and other related genera. It is used in traditional Chinese medicine for the treatment of coughs and phlegm, as well as for pain relief. Fabiatrin has been shown to have a coumarin ring, which has been shown to be an active ingredient in some drugs used clinically. The compound is insoluble and so can not be administered orally. Cell culture studies have shown that the compound inhibits DNA synthesis by binding to the hydroxyl group of the deoxyribose sugar moiety of DNA and interfering with DNA replication. This inhibition leads to cell death.
Fabiatrin has also been found to have anti-inflammatory properties due to its ability to inhibit prostaglandin synthesis via organic acids such as anisodamine or fructus. Hplc analysis has confirmed that these organic acids are present in Fabiatrin extract.
