Beschreibung:25-Fluorocholesterol is a hydroxylated form of cholesterol that was originally synthesized in vitro. It has been found to inhibit cholesterol synthesis and is used to study the role of cholesterol in mitochondrial function. 25-Fluorocholesterol has also been shown to possess anti-carcinogenic properties, as it inhibits adrenocortical carcinoma cells by inhibiting the production of desmosterol, which is required for their growth. This compound is also able to inhibit cho-k1 cells by side-chain cleavage. 25-Fluorocholesterol has the ability to cross cell membranes and can be detected in non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug studies using chromatography.
