Fluorosalicylaldehyde is an aromatic hydrocarbon that is structurally similar to phenol, but contains a fluorine atom in place of the hydroxyl group. Fluorosalicylaldehyde has been shown to inhibit the growth of cancer cells and is a potential therapeutic for cancer treatment. It also has anti-inflammatory properties and can be used as an inhibitor for compounds that are involved in the propagation of infectious diseases. Fluorosalicylaldehyde binds with metal ions such as copper, iron, or manganese by chelating them and inhibiting their catalytic activity.
