Beschreibung

4-Fluoroglutamic acid is a non-essential amino acid that is found in the body. It is used to diagnose radiation exposure and to study the mechanism of excitotoxicity, which is the depletion of glutamine or glutamate from cells by high levels of stimulation. In addition, 4-fluoroglutamic acid has been shown to have anti-cancer properties, inhibiting tumor growth and inducing apoptosis in cancer cells. 4-Fluoroglutamic acid binds with fatty acids and can be used as an alternative energy source for cells that are unable to use glucose. The uptake of 4-fluoroglutamic acid into cells depends on the presence of an active transport system.
