The reaction kinetics for the oxidation of benzene by 4-fluorobenzyl phenyl sulfide were studied in detail using the UV/VIS spectrophotometer to measure the absorbance at 270 nm. The compound is soluble in methanol, ethanol, acetone and ethylene glycol and insoluble in water. It reacts with anions to form coordination complexes with metals and has been shown to undergo oxidation reactions with sulfides to form sulfoxides or sulfones.
