Gastrin II sulfated is a vasoactive intestinal peptide that binds to the G-protein receptor. It has been shown to have a depressant effect on the gastrointestinal tract, and can be used in diagnostic tests for the presence of gastrin in human serum or biological samples. Gastrin II sulfated contains a disulfide bond that stabilizes the molecule and prevents it from degrading. The physiological levels of this hormone are found in human serum at concentrations ranging from 10-4 to 10-2 Molarity. This peptide hormone is present in gastric glands and pancreatic cells, where it stimulates the release of gastric acid and digestive enzymes.
