GW7647 has been shown to inhibit protein synthesis by binding to the ribosome at the peptidyl transferase center. It also binds to polymerase chain reaction (PCR) primers for DNA replication and transcriptional regulatory proteins such as p38 MAPKs and CREB-binding protein (CBP).
