Beschreibung

Glycerol 5-hydroxydodecanoate is an organic compound with the formula CH(CH)COH. It is a colorless liquid that is used in coatings and plasticizers. Glycerol 5-hydroxydodecanoate can be synthesized by the reaction of glycerol with adipic acid, or by hydrogenation of terephthalic acid followed by decarboxylation. This product is resistant to heat and has viscosity, which makes it suitable for use as a plasticizer. The low molecular weight of this compound allows it to penetrate into polyesters and other polymers, making it useful for coatings. In addition, glycerol 5-hydroxydodecanoate has fluorine substitution groups that give it functionality in the synthesis of fluoroelastomers and fluoropolymers.
