Beschreibung

Gibberellic acid is a plant hormone that regulates the growth of plants by affecting cellular metabolism, cell division, and gene expression. Gibberellic acid plays a role in many aspects of plant life such as internodal cells, cytosolic calcium ion concentration, and energy metabolism. Gibberellic acid has been shown to have an effect on peptide hormones such as auxin and giberelin. Gibberellic acid is also used to study the effects of xet activity in plants on physiological processes such as seed germination and water uptake. Optimal concentrations for gibberellic acid are between 0.1-1 mM. The structure of gibberellic acid is a bicyclic heterocycle with a carboxylic acid group at one end and an amine or amino group at the other end.
