• Beschreibung: Geranylacetone is a carotenoid that is found in the essential oil of many plants. It has been shown to have antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties. Geranylacetone is used as a polymerase chain reaction (PCR) standard, as well as a natural compound for the treatment of colorectal adenocarcinoma, other carcinomas, and human pathogens. Geranylacetone has also been shown to react with anhydrous hydroxyl groups on DNA bases to form covalent bonds. This reaction occurs via an acid-catalyzed mechanism in vitro. The product of this reaction is ethyl decanoate, which can be detected by gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (GC-MS).
