(R)-Glycidyl Methyl Ether is a functional group that is used in organic synthesis. It is synthesized by reacting methacrolein with formaldehyde in the presence of an acid catalyst. The reaction requires a large amount of energy and produces a mixture of (R)-glycidyl methyl ether and (S)-glycidyl methyl ether. It has been shown that vibrations are more prominent in the infrared spectrum for this functional group than the Raman spectrum.
