Beschreibung

8-Geranyloxypsoralen is a natural compound found in grapefruit and bergamot. It is used for the treatment of psoriasis, which is a chronic inflammatory skin disease that causes red, scaly patches to appear on the skin. 8-Geranyloxypsoralen inhibits the rate of DNA synthesis in cells by binding to p-glycoprotein (Pgp), affecting drug transport from inside the cell to outside. This leads to an accumulation of drugs within the cell that are normally eliminated by Pgp. 8-Geranyloxypsoralen also has inhibitory properties against cancer cells and can be used as a chemotherapeutic agent. It may be able to reduce tumour size or stop its growth.8-Geranyloxypsoralen has been shown to have inhibitory effects on mouse monoclonal antibodies when it binds with dna in 3t3-l1 preadipocytes.
