- Glaucocalyxin A
Glaucocalyxin A, a natural product, is a cytotoxic agent that binds to the matrix effect and mitochondria membrane potential. This compound has been shown to have significant cytotoxicity in HL-60 cells and K562 cells. Glaucocalyxin A also induces oxidative injury by increasing the mitochondrial membrane potential and reducing the amount of ATP produced by mitochondria. In addition, this compound has been shown to possess anti-cancer properties and may be used as an anticancer drug. Glaucocalyxin A enhances the production of pro-apoptotic protein Bax and inhibits growth factor-β1 (GF-β1), which is a cytokine that regulates cellular proliferation and differentiation.
Glaucocalyxin A also causes apoptosis by inhibiting the polymerase chain reaction (PCR) process in DNA synthesis. The biological properties of glaucocalyxin A are due to its ability to inhibit DNA replication and transcriptional activity.br>br>
