Beschreibung

Gadolinium trifluoromethanesulfonate is a ruthenium complex that has been used as an electrochemical catalyst in organic reactions. It can be immobilized on a solid support and used as an efficient method for the acetylation of amines, including the synthesis of chiral amines. Gadolinium trifluoromethanesulfonate selectively reacts with carbonyl groups to produce nitriles. This reaction is based on the electron transfer from the metal center to the carbonyl group, which results in a high yield and selectivity. The reaction mechanism involves a hydroxyl group acting as a hydrogen donor and an amine acting as an electron acceptor. The electrons are transferred from the metal center to the carbonyl group through an intermediate such as water or methoxide ion.
