• Beschreibung: 6-Hydroxynicotinic acid is a nicotinic acid analogue that has been shown to inhibit bacterial growth, with the exception of Bacillus subtilis. It has been shown to be specific for bacterial nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide (NAD) reductase and NAD+ kinase enzymes, which are involved in the biosynthesis of nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide phosphate (NADP). 6-Hydroxynicotinic acid binds to these enzymes and prevents them from carrying out their normal reactions, leading to decreased ATP production. In vitro assays have also demonstrated that 6-hydroxynicotinic acid inhibits human epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) tyrosine phosphorylation, thereby inhibiting its signalling pathway.
