The rate constants for the reaction between benzyl and benzalkonium chloride on hydroxymethyl resin have been determined using an analytical method. This process can be used as an indicator for bowel disease and squamous cell carcinoma. Hydroxytoluene (HT) and butylated hydroxytoluene (BHT) are antioxidants that can be added to inhibit oxidation when storing colloidal gold on hydroxymethyl resin.
