Beschreibung:
6-Hydroxy-4-methyl-1-benzofuran-3(2H)-one is a model system that can be used to study chronic viral hepatitis and the enzyme activities involved in this disease. 6-Hydroxy-4-methyl-1-benzofuran-3(2H)-one has been demonstrated to have antiviral activity against Herpesvirus simiae, which causes chronic viral hepatitis. 6HMF can also be used as an antigen for the development of vaccines for infectious diseases such as hepatitis and HIV. 6HMF binds to human serum proteins and stimulates antibody production, which may provide protection from infection by these viruses.
