2-Hydrazino-3-nitropyridine (2HNP) is a hydrazone that binds to metal cations. The binding of 2HNP to the metal cations can be attributed to its bidentate ligand. 2HNP has been shown to react with aldehydes, diethyl ether, and solvents such as alcohols and nucleophilic compounds. It also reacts with chlorine and phenylhydrazine.
