Beschreibung:Hexacontane is a hydrocarbon that is found in petroleum and natural gas. It is often used as a thermal expansion agent, viscosity reducer, or lubricant. Hexacontane has been shown to inhibit the growth of bacteria by damaging the fatty acid membrane of cells. Hexacontane also inhibits the activity of herpes simplex virus (HSV) in mouse brain tissue and prevents HSV infection in mice. Hexacontane has been shown to be an effective antimicrobial agent against many strains of bacteria, including Staphylococcus aureus, Escherichia coli, Streptococcus pyogenes, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, and Klebsiella pneumoniae. Hexacontane inhibits microbial growth by binding to phospholipids on the surface of bacterial cells and preventing cell division. It also binds to boron nitride which can be used as a coating for polymeric membranes to prevent microbial infection.
