Beschreibung

Homoharringtonine is a natural compound that inhibits the DNA polymerase, which is involved in DNA replication. It also inhibits the bcl-2 protein and the bcr-abl kinase, which are involved in apoptosis. Homoharringtonine has minimal toxicity and can induce apoptosis in cells with minimal cytotoxicity. This drug has shown significant cytotoxicity against myelogenous leukemia cells that have the BCR-ABL gene mutation. Homoharringtonine has synergistic effects when used with other chemotherapeutic drugs such as adriamycin or vincristin.
