(5Z,8Z,11Z)-N-(2-Hydroxyethyl)-5,8,11-Icosatrienamide (HEET) is a short-chain fatty acid that belongs to the group of lipocalins. It is a ligand for the GPR109A receptor and has been shown to possess anti-inflammatory properties. HEET is produced by the enzymatic hydrolysis of glycerolipids, which are a type of lipid found in plant cells and other organisms. HEET also exhibits antimicrobial activity against methicillin resistant Staphylococcus aureus and Mycobacterium tuberculosis isolates. This compound has also been shown to inhibit the growth of human breast cancer cells in culture.
