• Beschreibung: 6b-Hydroxytestosterone is an antiplatelet agent that belongs to the class of thienopyridine derivatives. It inhibits platelet aggregation by blocking GPIIb/IIIa receptors on the surface of the platelets. The effect of 6b-hydroxytestosterone on platelet aggregation is irreversible. This drug has been shown to be a potent inhibitor of human P450 activity in vitro, but not in vivo. 6b-Hydroxytestosterone binds to and inhibits the activity of bacterial DNA polymerase, RNA polymerase, and other enzymes involved in nucleic acid synthesis. It also blocks protein synthesis by inhibiting ribosomal translocation during translation initiation. The clinical relevance of 6b-hydoxytestosterone as an antiplatelet agent is supported by its efficacy in rat liver microsomes, which are a model system for drug metabolism in mammals.
