This drug has been shown to have a strong inhibitory effect on soil microorganisms, including fungi and bacteria, which may be due to its ability to inhibit cytochrome p450 enzymes. 6-Hydroxy bentazon is used as a phytotoxicant in water treatment systems and is included as an additive in pesticides.
