Beschreibung:2-Hydroxy desipramine is a metabolite of desipramine, an antidepressant drug. It is formed from the hydrolysis of desipramine by liver enzymes and is excreted in urine. 2-Hydroxy desipramine has shown to have dose-dependent effects on cardiac function and has been shown to decrease blood pressure in rats. 2-Hydroxy desipramine has been shown to be clinically relevant for patients who are also taking carbamazepine, which can cause an increase in 2-hydroxydesipranime plasma levels. This drug may also interfere with other drugs that are metabolized through glucuronidation pathways.
