• Beschreibung: Diclofenac is a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) of the propionic acid group. The major route of elimination of diclofenac is through glucuronidation by UGT1A9 and UGT2B7. This process, which leads to the formation of a glucuronide conjugate with diclofenac, is often competitively inhibited by drugs that are substrates for these enzymes. In vivo models have shown that 5-hydroxy omeprazole inhibits the formation of the glucuronide conjugate and increases plasma levels of free diclofenac. A preparative high-performance liquid chromatography method has been developed for determining diclofenac in wastewater samples.
