• Beschreibung: 20a-Hydroxy prednisolone is an impurity that is found in the ophthalmic drug prednisolone. It has been shown to affect the perfusion of tissues in a rat's eye and can be used to validate analytical methods for quantifying prednisolone. The chromatographic method developed by Agilent was validated using tissue culture and reversed-phase chromatography, with excellent recoveries and reproducibility. The validation process also detected other impurities that were present at low levels (1%) such as 20-hydroxy-prednisolone, 17alpha-hydroxy-prednisolone, 18a-hydroxy-prednisolone, 19a-hydroxy-prednisolone, 21a-hydroxy-prednisolone, and 22a-hydroxy-prednisolone.
