Beschreibung

11a-Hydroxy progesterone is a naturally occurring and biologically active metabolite of progesterone, which is a steroid hormone that regulates many functions in the body. It has been shown to have diastolic pressure-lowering properties in women, which may be due to its ability to inhibit the production of epidermal growth factor (EGF) and epidermal growth. 11a-Hydroxy progesterone also has homology with other steroids such as cortisol, 17α-hydroxypregnenolone, and 11β-hydroxypregnenolone. This compound binds to the nuclear receptor progesterone receptor A (PRA), which may be responsible for its anti-inflammatory effects.
