• Beschreibung: 4'-Hydroxy torsemide is a potent diuretic that has been shown to increase renal sodium excretion and inhibit the reabsorption of chloride ions. It has also been shown to have a beneficial effect in oedematous patients with congestive heart failure. 4'-Hydroxy torsemide inhibits the activity of aminopyridine, which is an enzyme involved in the synthesis of cGMP. This inhibition causes an increase in intracellular levels of cGMP, which leads to vasodilation and decreased peripheral vascular resistance. The drug has also been found to be effective against cirrhosis, although it does not affect potassium levels or blood pressure.
