This process prevents protein synthesis and cell division, leading to bacterial death. The chemical structure of 5-Hydroxy pyrrolidinone is similar to other compounds that inhibit cancer growth, such as 2-methoxycinnamic acid and protocatechuic acid. These compounds have been shown to inhibit cancer cell lines by blocking DNA replication and inducing apoptosis through caspase activation.
