It also inhibits Verticillium dahliae, which causes wilt disease in plants, by inhibiting the synthesis of hydroxycarboxylates. D-alpha-Hydroxyisovaleric acid is biodegradable and can be used for industrial purposes as well as pharmaceuticals.
