Produktinformation
- 1-(2-Hydroxy-3,5-dimethylphenyl)ethanone
2'-Hydroxy-3',5'-dimethylacetophenone is a white crystalline solid with a melting point of 118.2°C. It has a molecular formula of C8H10O2 and a molecular weight of 136.17 g/mol. This compound has been shown to be an effective stabilizer for chlorinated solvents, such as dichloromethane and trichloroethane, by providing chloride anions that promote the formation of ion pairs with the solvent molecule. The crystal structure of 2'-hydroxy-3',5'-dimethylacetophenone was determined by X-ray diffraction methods and found to contain two dihedral angles that were unambiguously assigned hydrogen bonds between the hydroxyl group and the methyl groups in the alpha position on adjacent carbons.
