Beschreibung:L-beta-Homoserine is a proteinogenic amino acid with the chemical formula HOOCCH(NH)CHCHOH. It is a hydroxy acid that has been shown to be involved in protein–protein interactions and to regulate gene expression. L-beta-Homoserine has also been used as an optimization tool for protein design, as it can be modified at a variety of positions on the molecule. This amino acid can also be used to synthesize other compounds. The synthesis of L-beta-homoserine from L-serine and malonic acid was first reported by Vogel and co-workers in 1908.
