2-Hydroxy-L-phenylalanine (2-OHPhe) is a natural human immunoglobulin that has been shown to protect against oxidative injury in experimental models. 2-OHPhe can be used as an antioxidant and has shown to reduce the intensity of radiation and reactive oxygen species, which are produced by the immune system. In addition, 2-OHPhe has been shown to have biological properties and is a basic protein that possesses enzyme activities. It also works as an analytical method for measuring free radicals. This compound can be used in a model system to evaluate the effects of antioxidants on oxidative stress.
