Beschreibung

Heptafluoropropyl Iodide is a chemical compound that is used as a diagnostic agent for the detection of hydroxy groups, which are found in proteins. It reacts with the hydroxyl group on the protein by exchanging electrons to form an ionic bond. The fluoro-organic iodine-copper complex forms and can be detected with electron capture detection or chemical ionization detection. This reaction solution can be applied to an analytical device such as a mass spectrometer to detect the presence of fluorine in a sample. Heptafluoropropyl Iodide is synthesized by reacting benzene with fluorine gas at high temperatures and pressure and adding copper chloride, water, and sodium hydroxide. Heptafluoropropyl Iodide has been shown to have acute toxicities in animals, although not in humans.
