Lipophilic component of medicinal plant Hypericum perforatum (St John's wort) with anti-depressant activity. Uptake inhibitor of 5-HT, norephinephrine, dopamine, glutamate and GABA neurotransmitters. Also found to have anxiolytic, anti-proliferative and apoptosis-inducing properties.
