Puerarin is an aromatic compound that is soluble in water and hydrochloric acid but not in organic solvents such as ether, chloroform, or hexane. This compound has UV absorption peaks at 225 nm and 270 nm. In order to extract puertarin from the plant, it must first be extracted with hot water then filtered with filter paper then dried and finally dissolved in hydrochloric acid
