Beschreibung:20-HETE is a 20-carbon unsaturated fatty acid that is found in the body. It is an arachidonic acid metabolite and has been shown to have vasoconstricting and hypertensive properties. 20-HETE binds to the α1 subunit of the polymerase chain, which inhibits transcription and DNA replication in neuronal cells. Inhibition of this enzyme may be responsible for some of the neuroprotective effects of 20-HETE. This compound also has tubulointerstitial injury and cytochrome P450 inhibition properties, as well as an inhibitory effect on blood platelets. The inhibition of platelet aggregation by 20-HETE may play a role in cerebral vascular diseases such as stroke.
