Beschreibung

4-Hydroxy-8-(trifluoromethyl)-3-quinolinecarboxylic acid ethyl ester (4HTQE) is a synthetic antimicrobial agent that has been shown to have good activity against a number of microbial strains. 4HTQE has been shown to be active against Gram positive and Gram negative bacteria, including Staphylococcus aureus, Streptococcus pyogenes, Escherichia coli, Enterobacter cloacae, Klebsiella pneumoniae, Serratia marcescens, and Pseudomonas aeruginosa. It also has good activity against mycobacteria such as Mycobacterium tuberculosis and Mycobacterium avium. 4HTQE is not active against fungi or yeast. The mechanism of action of the compound is not known.
