It has been shown to be a potent antagonist of the muscarinic acetylcholine receptors in tissue culture and a model system. Isoxazole has also been shown to have potent antitumor activity in vivo. It binds to the receptor site on tumor cells, blocking the effects of acetylcholine. This leads to tumor cell death.
